Dr. Farzana Rahman is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department of Syracuse University. Her research interests span Mobile Healthcare, Ubiquitous Computing and Computer Science Education. As part of her lab, SCAEL: Social Computing and Accessible Education Lab, her research has been funded federally and through industry to investigate how socio technical interventions affect personal health and well-being, how integrating learning science theories in computing courses impact student performance, and identifying best practices to broaden participation of women and underrepresented students in computing programs. Her publications have appeared in leading ACM and IEEE venues such as ACM SIGCSE, IEEE RESPECT and IEEE Percom. She is the winner of the Google ExploreCSR award, NCWIT Extension Services (NCWIT ES-UP) award, ABI Systers PIO (Pass-It-On) award, and NCWIT educator award. She is currently serving as the Co-Chair of the faculty track of Grace Hopper Celebration, the largest women in computing conference in the world. She is also the co-founder of Bangladeshi Women in Computer Science and Engineering (BWCSE), which aims to elevate the status of Bangladeshi women in computing research by assisting them to achieve their career and professional goals.
